For most of us, keeping our eyeballs neatly tucked within their sockets is a significant safety concern.
However, for Kim Goodman, bulging her eyes past her eyelids is a party trick that can make her the life of the party.
Kim is the Guinness world record holder for having her eyes pop out off her head the furthest.
When she was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records, her eyes could extend an impressive 11 millimeters, after showing off her talent for a number of years, that number has grown to 12mm.
Kim had broken her own record when Guinness remeasured in 2007.
Having the ability to be an eye ball popper it’s the perfect trick to startle the kids on Halloween night. Funny enough, that is the night that Kim learned she was a eye ball popper.
“I figured out how I can do this when I accidentally hit my eye on Halloween. And, it popped out, so I had to push it back in,” Kim said during an interview with Travis Hoefle of The Wizard of Odd TV.
After practicing and messing around in the mirror, Kim found that she had control over her eyes movement out of their sockets.
She is unsure why she is able to pop her eyes out when the mass majority of us don’t have this ability. She says there is no trick behind it.
“The most common question is, does it hurt? If it hurt I wouldn’t do it,” says Kim. “And, no my eyes do not dry out, and they don’t get stuck, and I’m not afraid of them getting stuck.”
Kim’s extraordinary talent has even brought her fame throughout the years.
Years ago she auditioned for David Letterman’s Superhuman Fiction segment and America fell in love with the eye ball popper.
After that, her phone was ringing off the hook with people interested in showing off her eye pop.
Kim has travelled to five countries and appeared in television commercials all thanks to her bulging eyeballs.
“I’ve always had big eyes,” says Kim. “When I was a kid I used to be called ‘Popeye’. Now I get paid for Popeye – for being a Popeye.”
